Beware! Romantic novel Damaged Health and Relationships
Romance novels do not always have an effect either to a woman’s life. Allegedly romantic novels can damage health and relationships in women.
According to British psychologist, Susan Quilliam, a novel gives an unrealistic view of women about to expect from a relationship, especially romance.
The novels are considered to offer different versions of the ideal of romance that can make women feel bad about themselves because their relationship is not as perfect as the story in the novel.
Quillam emphasize this does not mean women do not understand between fiction and reality. It’s just adding novel views on women’s emotions and passions that are the basis of decision making.
"It will make the relationship a mixture of romance and common sense," he said.
For that Quillam said women should realize the relationship is not always perfect and not always have a happy ending. Women should not blame themselves for a relationship that is far from ideal.
"This is not just true for women, either men or women, romance readers or not, must make decisions not based on an ideal version of life in a romance novel," he said.
